The Mill Garden Centre is wholly-owned and run by the McIndoe family, who have been operating a nursery on this site since 1900.

Started by Robert and Margaret McIndoe, the business was initially a soft fruit farm, also growing some vegetables.

Between 1920 and 1967, Joe and Peggy McIndoe concentrated on building up the soft fruit enterprise, growing and supplying quality fruit to a range of customers.

The present owners, Joe and Dorothy McIndoe, diversified into growing a large range of high quality amenity plants.

Over 40 years, the selection of plants has increased dramatically and, alongside the wide range of more traditional plants on offer, today covers more specialist areas of interest such as dwarf, slow-growing and grafted conifers and Japanese Acers (up to specimen size) for retail, wholesale, the landscaping trade and local authorities.

In the last 15 years, the business has been run by Joe and Dorothy’s children Kathleen and Colin, who have continued to develop and expand both the retail and wholesale areas of the business.
