Growers of quality plants

The garden centre's main strength is its high quality range of unusual plants held in stock throughout the year, backed up by a wide range of plants grown on site from our own nursery.

On display, you will find many unusual conifers (dwarf, ornamental, grafted and specimen types) along with a wide variety of hedging conifers in a range of sizes from 18" (45cm) - 7' (250cm) high. In the last two growing years we have added a wide number of unusual Japanese Acers in sizes ranging from miniature patio types to large specimens 7'-8' high in 25-35 litre pots. Many of these varieties of acers have stunning autumn, summer or spring foliage colours ranging from golden yellow through to blood red often accompanied by coloured stems.

Many gardens now are designed for easy maintenance in conjunction with patios, decks, and conservatories where the use of specimen plants such as conifers, Japanese Acers, miniature trees, ornamental grasses, and choice evergreen shrubs are used to great effect. We stock a large range of container grown trees from miniature types suitable for small compact gardens (mainly grafted on shorter stems) to the more traditional types such as larger maples, amelanchier, birches, crataegus (hawthorn), fagus (beech), laburnum, prunus, quercus(oak), salix, sorbus (rowan), and numerous others.

Unusual shrubs are stocked in depth on site e.g. Calycanthus floridus, Callicarpa Bodinieri, Cornus Canadensis, Gaultheria Cuneata, Euonymus Alatus, Leucothoe Axillaris, Sarcococca Humilis etc. A large variety of roses are stocked particularly from early February through to early winter. These include many varieties of hybrid tea and floribunda along with patio, climbing and shrub roses as well as a range of "celebration" and special occasion varieties.
